Making A Difference On Your Mom Time

Last year, I posted several tips on how to reduce your carbon footprint to help save our planet. In celebration of Earth Day today, I’d like to post some more mom tips on how we can further make a difference. Let’s show how much influence hot moms have in making this world a better place to live.

At home

Be sure to read my post on 10 simple things you can start incorporating into your lifestyle to reduce your carbon dioxide footprint.

Replace or clean dirty air filters (car, home, airconditioner, etc) as recommended.

Buy only Energy Star appliances

Buy local products. This reduces the amount of energy required to drive your products to your local store.

Buy organic food. Chemicals used in modern agriculture pollute the water supply, and require energy to produce.

Weatherize and insulate your home, and consider double pane windows.

Run your dishwasher only when it’s full.

Use reusable bags when grocery shopping.

At work

Use emails instead of paper memos whenever possible. Encourage the use electronic forms instead of manually filling out paper forms.

Use teleconference or web conference instead of travelling.

Eliminate unnecessary photocopying.

Print on both sides of the paper if you must.

Reuse packaging for shipping.

Properly dispose toxic office supplies like batteries, toners, etc.

Support companies that promote green and sustainable products.

Let’s celebrate Earth Day everyday. I’d like to kick it off by having an Earth Day party here in my site! Comment on how you’ve been making changes in your lifestyle to help save Mother Earth. If you have a blog, leave us a link to your Earth Day related posts so we can drop by and enjoy your post too! Let’s get the party started!

Take It To Heart

Below is the trailer of the movie “An Inconvenient Truth” by Al Gore. I’ve seen the movie a couple of times and I’m sharing this with you, my hot mom community, so you can see the importance and urgency of making your lifestyle changes in support of Mother Earth. Earth Day is a day to celebrate how far we’ve come in our efforts to save our planet, but also serves as a challenge for us to do more.

As we learn to appreciate the things that makes life precious, let’s ask ourselves how we can give back to the very thing that’s been sustaining us from the very beginning — our Mother Earth. After all, as Al Gore puts it, it’s our ability to live is what is at stake.

Here are some of my mom tips on how we can help save Mother Earth. Let’s take Earth Day to heart and celebrate it everyday!
