Prime Time: Mouthwatering Steaks and Superb Seafood at Mr. Lester’s

Established in 1995 and located within Cypress Bayou Casino and Shorty’s, Mr. Lester’s Steakhouse offers grand dining in style. Located in Charenton between Baldwin and Jeanerette, Mr. Lester’s is known throughout the state for its prime beef, generous portions, extensive wine offers and cigar selection, exceptional service, friendly staff, and enticing décor.

Mr. Lester’s expanded in 1998 to feature a Cigar Bar, which has the distinct aura of a handsome gentleman’s club with leather sofas, a baby grand piano with live entertainment Friday and Saturday evenings, a two-way fireplace, and a dining room that can accommodate 50 guests. Relax with a Cobia Churchill or a Hemmingway Signature from the extensive cigar selection while sipping brandy, cocktails, or fine wines.

Guests relax in Mr. Lester’s elegant, non-smoking dining room and feast on such appetizers as lobster Napoleon designed with fried wonton shells layered with boursin cheese and sautéed lobster meat, served with a tomato basil cream sauce; bar-b-q oysters on angel hair pasta topped with a creamy Worcestershire bar-b-q sauce; seared Ahi tuna that is pepper crusted and pan-seared, and served over a bed of fresh sautéed spinach; and such classics as shrimp remoulade, bar-b-q shrimp, seafood stuffed mushrooms, and luscious crab cakes enhanced with cream cheese and a velvety beurre blanc.

A diversity of salads and vegetables abound. Entrées include a variety of prime steaks such as a 20-ounce pepper crusted ribeye, a 24-ounce T-bone, a porterhouse for two at 32-ounces, and chateaubriand for two at 20-ounces, in addition to eight and 12-ounce filets. Try the lamb porterhouse (two 6-ounce lamb loin chops grilled with sauce bordelaise or mint jelly), the fresh Ahi tuna steak grilled or blackened, grilled sea bass, or fresh Maine lobster steamed to perfection. Desserts include the ethereal white chocolate mousse praline torte, praline parfait, New York style cheesecake, and the luscious honey caramel pecan tart.

With the creative talents of Chef Laci Boothe, the support of an incredible, long-standing staff, and under the direction of Executive Chef David Laszczak, Mr. Lester’s continues to build customer loyalty and exceed guests’ expectations. Chef Boothe is from Franklin and she enhances her traditional Cajun dishes with an Asian flair.

She acquired her Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts from the John Folse Culinary Institute of Nicholls University in Thibodaux, and continued her education at the Culinary Institute of America in New York with a focus on Asian cuisine. She has attained many medals for her superb culinary skills.
